Former deputy chief of staff to Georgia Governor named vice president for government relations

Julia Ayers brings experience in education, legislative affairs and economic development

无码变态 has appointed Julia Ayers as vice president for government relations, effective Oct. 22.

Ayers is currently senior executive director of economic development for the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), where she works closely with the vice presidents of economic development at 22 colleges to develop and implement curriculum and industry outreach initiatives. Prior to TCSG, she spent eight years working with Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, most recently as deputy chief of staff for legislative and external affairs.

In her new role, Ayers will promote 无码变态鈥檚 goals and objectives to state and federal policymakers, University System of Georgia officials, and business and civic leaders. She also will identify priorities for 无码变态 and develop action plans that require governmental, legislative and community support.

鈥淛ulia鈥檚 experience in government relations and her commitment to education, particularly here in Georgia, will be an asset in advancing 无码变态鈥檚 mission and impact,鈥 said Alex McGee, 无码变态鈥檚 vice president for external affairs and chief of staff. 鈥淛ulia will be a strong advocate for Kennesaw State. Her proven skills will enhance the University鈥檚 reputation and partnerships throughout the state as well as nationally and internationally.鈥

Ayers鈥 career with Gov. Deal began in August 2009, when she joined the Deal for Governor campaign as a field representative and administrative assistant. Once Deal took office, Ayers became legislative liaison to the Georgia State Legislature and then legislative liaison to the Georgia House of Representatives before being named manager of state legislative affairs in July 2014. She left the Governor鈥檚 office in January 2015 to become the assistant commissioner of external affairs and facilities at TCSG but was recruited back to the Governor鈥檚 office in September 2015.

In August 2008, Ayers began her career as a staff assistant and legislative correspondent for former U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey.

Ayers earned a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in political science, Spanish and international studies from the University of Mississippi. Ayers also graduated from the Georgia Academy of Economic Development and was in Leadership Georgia鈥檚 class of 2017.
